The Independent Art School aim to make art more accessible to people of all ages and abilities. We believe that developing artistic skills and knowledge should be a fun and engaging process which is designed around the individual’s creative needs.
We are committed to helping our students develop their artistic skills and are seeking highly motivated, experienced tutors with a genuine passion for helping others to grow as Artists.
Our students come to us from a wide range of backgrounds; some are experienced artists who want a creative mentor to help them step back and analyse their own work, others are complete beginners with no training in art but a whole lot of passion for learning something new.
Our students tend to be self motivated and keen to learn, often battling against busy lifestyles to find the time for 1:1 art lessons. As a result, tutors typically report that lessons are extremely enjoyable and rewarding.
What We Do
We match each student with a dedicated and like-minded art tutor who specialises in their specific area of interest. Lessons tend to take place either in the home of the student or the tutor, depending on their preferences. We spend a great deal of time selecting exactly the right tutor for each student. We want the lessons to be enjoyable for both the student and the tutor so we know that we have to get the match just right.
What Our Tutors Say
“I have really enjoyed working and liaising with the school, they are always there as back up and really care about both the Students and the Tutors, they are also very happy to take on board any suggestion we Tutors make with regard to course and equipment improvements, they are also happy to help us plan our sessions and provide ideas and inspiration, I have always felt that the relationship is very two way.” Helen
“The Independent Art School has been very beneficial to my Art career.I have learnt a lot of things during my career and educational life, and like the fact that I can pass on what I have learnt to students to help them with their Art, especially when I work with young students in their teenage years. I like to open student’s minds up more, so that they can realise what they enjoy, what they are capable of and aim for the career that they truly want.” Jenna
